Contentious Trusts and Probate Solicitor – Senior Associate to Partner

About the role

Our growing Will, Trust and Estate Disputes team is looking for an ambitious specialist who wants high-quality work, genuine responsibility and a clear opportunity to progress.

We are open-minded about level. You may be an up and coming lawyer ready to take a larger role in a specialist practice or senior solicitor seeking a platform from which to lead. We are more interested in your ability, potential and appetite to develop than in an arbitrary PQE threshold.

You will manage a varied caseload, take ownership of client relationships and help develop the team through supervision, business development, knowledge sharing and cross-firm collaboration. The role carries responsibility for strong client service, sound matter management, financial performance and compliance with the firm’s standards and Business Plan.

A portable following would be welcome but is not essential. We are looking for a lawyer who is intellectually curious, commercially aware, keen to deepen their technical expertise and ready to build their network and market profile with the firm’s support.

A role shaped around your experience

We're open to applications from Senior Associates, Managing Associates and Partners, recognising that candidates at different stages of their careers will bring different strengths and ambitions.

The scope of the role, including leadership responsibilities, business development expectations and opportunities for progression, will reflect the successful candidate's experience and the contribution they are looking to make.

We welcome applications from lawyers who are ready to take on greater responsibility, as well as established senior practitioners seeking a new opportunity to develop their practice.

Interested in finding out more?

We recognise that exploring your next career move is an important decision, particularly at a senior level.

If the opportunity sounds interesting but you'd like to understand more about the team, the role or the potential for progression, we'd welcome an informal, confidential conversation before you apply.

To arrange a informal discussion, please contact Stuart Downey, Partner and Head of the Will, Trust and Estate Disputes team at stuart.downey@twmsolicitors.com.

Key tasks, duties and quality standards:

Depending on your experience and seniority, your responsibilities will include:

    • Managing a varied caseload of contentious Will, trust and estate matters, providing clear, practical advice to clients.
    • Handling complex disputes, working collaboratively with colleagues and external professionals to achieve effective outcomes.
    • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients, professional contacts and referrers.
    • Contributing to the continued growth and development of the Will, Trust and Estate Disputes practice.
    • Supporting and supervising junior colleagues, sharing knowledge and contributing to their professional development.
    • Participating in business development, networking and profile-raising activities.
    • Maintaining high standards of client service, matter management, financial performance and regulatory compliance.

To be successful in this role, we are seeking the following:

    • Strong technical expertise and relevant experience in contentious trusts and probate matters.
    • The ability to manage complex matters with appropriate independence and sound professional judgement.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal and client relationship skills.
    • Commercial awareness and an interest in developing professional relationships and new business opportunities.
    • A collaborative approach, with the ability to contribute positively to the wider team.
    • The ambition and enthusiasm to develop their specialist expertise and contribute to the future success of the practice.

An existing client following would be welcome but is not essential.
