Overview of the vacancy

To input client cash transactions, on the day of receipt, according to Solicitor’s Accounts Rules (SAR). To prepare cheques and wire transfer payments to clients ready for authorisation. To administer the client disbursement purchase ledger system and assist with the development/streamlining of financial procedures.

This role requires someone with high drive and energy, plus a working knowledge of the SAR, to ensure that client ledgers are up to date, accurate and SAR compliant.

The applicant will be expected to participate in the development and implementation of new and improved accounting procedures throughout the firm.

Job description

  • Client transactions: Inputs and processes transactions arising in all office locations upon day of receipt
    • Bills
    • Credit notes
    • Write offs
    • Client to office transfers
    • Time transfers
    • Interest calculations
  • Cheque and wire Transfers: Prepares cheques and enters payment instructions onto the on-line banking terminal, ready for authorisation.
  • Bank Reconciliations: Preparation of client account reconciliations
  • Petty Cash monitoring and reconciliations
  • Client account queries: Deal with fee earners on any queries on the client/ office ledgers

Essential personal qualities and attributes
  • High level of professionalism
  • A flexible approach to work tasks including a willingness to do extra hours if required (overtime will be paid)
  • Quick to learn and adapt
  • Demonstrable team work experience
  • The ability to prioritise well.
Essential skills, knowledge and abilities
  • Demonstrable experience of legal cashiering and SAR
  • Demonstrable computer skills, including Excel capability
  • Cashiering experience within the legal industry
  • Knowledge of SAR
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience of procedure development.
