About John

John is a Partner in the Business Law team at TWM Solicitors in Guildford and specialises in Company Law. He advises on the whole spectrum of corporate transactions, both domestic and cross-border, for businesses ranging in size from SMEs to multinationals. He also advises entrepreneurs who are in the early stages of their ventures, corporate officers and shareholders.

John applies his wealth of legal experience to the specific requirements of clients across key industry sectors on matters including share and business acquisitions and disposals, shareholder arrangements and strategic alliances, corporate finance, group reorganisations and the full range of legal advice required in the running of a company or partnership. Alongside his corporate practice, John is also experienced in real estate finance, primarily for residential property developers. He also advises on commercial business contracts.

Prior to joining TWM, John has worked at global and national law firms in the City and, most recently, was a partner in the Surrey office of a national law firm. He has two decades of experience at the cutting edge of legal practice.

John has acted for clients on a wide range of complex matters, including:

  • Advising a leading provider of high technology engineering solutions to the aerospace and medical sectors on a series of transactions, including a multi-million pound refinancing, a Court-approved reduction of capital, shareholder and management arrangements and employee trusts.
  • Acting for the shareholders of a UK-headquartered global assessment and executive development organisation on the disposal of the company to a US-based workforce solutions provider.
  • Negotiating the sale of a company which owns a Surrey golf course.
  • Acting for a leading residential property developer on a series of facilities with a lender.
  • Advising a national residential property developer on multi-million pound corporate joint ventures in respect of landmark London developments.
  • Advising a US aerospace giant on a UK acquisition and subsequent reorganisation of its European subsidiaries.

John was awarded his LLB (Hons) in Law from Durham University, completed his postgraduate studies in Legal Practice at Nottingham Law School, trained in London and New York, and qualified as a Solicitor in 2000.
