Overview of the vacancy

To work with the finance team to ensure the efficient running of the department, including the firm’s purchase ledger function and some aspects of legal cashiering.

Key tasks, duties and quality standards

Working closely with the finance team, the role includes the following:

  • Set up new supplier and expense accounts.
  • Code and post invoices/expenses to nominals.
  • Pay invoices/expenses when due.
  • Complete office account bank reconciliation.
  • Assist Management Accountant with analysis of nominals and other reconciliations.
  • Deal with email and telephone queries.
  • Assist Legal Cashiers in regard to banking of client cheques, billing and other ad hoc tasks.
  • Authorisation of payments for cashiers.

Qualifications

Accounts department background.

Essential personal qualities and attributes

  • Diplomacy.
  • Conscientiousness.
  • Prioritisation skills.
  • Self-starter.
  • Self-confidence.

Essential skills, knowledge and abilities

  • 2-3 years purchase ledger experience and must be able to deal with a large volume of transactions.
  • Organisational/administrative skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Confident telephone manner.
  • Microsoft outlook/excel confident.
  • General IT literacy.
Desirable skills, knowledge and abilities
  • Purchase ledger in a legal/professional services environment.
  • Previous experience of Xero accounting software.
