Corporate Responsibility

Corporate Responsibility

Our corporate responsibility programme is fundamental to our approach to being a socially responsible and sustainable business.

Introduction

Our corporate responsibility programme is fundamental to our approach to being a socially responsible and sustainable business. We are committed to:

  • Improving access to justice for people in need in and around the towns in which we have offices
  • Making a positive impact in our local communities
  • Minimising our environmental impact
  • Being an excellent employer
  • Volunteering at TWM.

Environmental responsibility

We are committed to measuring, monitoring and reducing our environmental impact, with the aim of achieving Net Zero by 2050.

We have calculated the carbon profile of the firm and are committed to publishing an annual carbon footprint report. Our initial Carbon Reduction Plan can be viewed here.

This work is led by our Green Team, a committee of colleagues from across the firm, established in March 2026. The Green Team’s initial focus includes:

  • Calculating the firm’s carbon profile, and publishing an annual carbon footprint report from 2026;
  • Developing a property sustainability register to identify opportunities for improvement across our network of offices;
  • Sharing knowledge and practical guidance with colleagues on sustainable practices, both in and outside of work (we also seek to communicate the broader importance and context of environmental issues);
  • Implementing a Sustainable Travel Policy; and
  • Identifying additional initiatives to help us to meet our environmental goals.

Carbon reporting scope

Scope 1: Direct emissions from sources that a company owns or controls;

Scope 2: Indirect emissions from the generation of purchased energy;

Scope 3: Indirect emissions that occur in a company’s value chain, including upstream and downstream emissions. This includes emissions from the purchase, use and disposal of products from suppliers.

Partner Charity

Since 2023, our partner charity (chosen by staff) is Dementia First.

We take seriously the numerous relationships, partnerships, roles and responsibilities we have as a leading law firm, an employer, and provider and purchaser of goods and services. This is why we strive to encourage responsible behaviour in every aspect of our day to day activities, and endeavour to make a positive impact on society, promote human rights, be an excellent employer and minimise our impact on the environment.
