FAQs

Below are some questions that we are frequently asked by clients who require advice on Business and Commercial Disputes Law.

A commercial dispute is any type of conflict relating to business. The range of work covered is extremely broad and can cover issues, such as ownership, management, breaches of contract and fraud, to name only a few examples.

We are able to deal with most, if not all, types of commercial dispute – though we may be restricted from acting by, for example, issues of proportionality or conflicts of interest.

We advise on the law as it applies in England or Wales and therefore disputes within that jurisdiction. That mainly involves businesses and contracts formed in the UK, but we often act for clients based overseas with disputes in the UK, or in disputes which span different jurisdictions. We also work with lawyers in other jurisdictions, if needed.

The answer to this will depend on your specific situation, including the terms of any agreement relating to your dispute. The rules and procedures regarding costs are complex and we will explain them to you in more detail as your dispute progresses.

Each dispute is different and the answer to this depends on the individual circumstances. However, one of our first actions when acting for you would be to determine whether it is proportionate to procced and how best to do that.
