Tegen Knight is a Solicitor in the Private Client team, working out of the firm’s Guildford office having joined in October 2024.
Tegen qualified as a solicitor in May 2024 and has experience in all types of private client matters with a particular focus on trust management, tax advice and general estate planning. Tegen is known for her solution focused approach and ability to handle matters in a timely fashion. Tegen prides herself on putting her client’s best interest at the heart of all of her work as well as maintain a friendly yet professional service.
Experience
Tegen can assist with the administration of trusts, Deeds relating to the appointment and retirement of trustees and appointing trust funds, trust wind-ups, creation of trusts be in life time or created in a will, tax compliance for trusts and estates including inheritance tax reporting, advice on how to restructure trusts to ensure they stay tax efficient and general advice on how best to tax plan for the future, as well as tax consequences of a variety of transactions.

Recent matters Tegen has dealt with include:
- Winding up complex discretionary trusts where 10-year reporting was missed, indexation was charged, and historic income tax due, successfully minimising any tax consequence of late submissions and ensuring the trust was wound up in the most tax-efficient way.
- Reviewing trust structures, advising clients of their duties and reporting requirements as trustees and proposing restructuring where necessary and what the benefits are of keeping a trust going versus winding it up.
- Managing high-value trusts, ensuring investments are running in the most tax-efficient way, whilst ensuring there is steady growth throughout the life of the trust. Where the Trust is a life interest trust ensuring that the life tenant is adequately provided for whilst preserving the capital for the residue beneficiaries. As part of the management, ensuring trustees and beneficiaries are kept up to date regularly, and any concerns about the trust funds are actioned.
Outside of work Tegen enjoys horse riding, baking and art and crafts.
