What is family mediation?

Family mediation is a voluntary process where an impartial, professionally trained mediator helps you and your former partner communicate and negotiate agreements on issues such as:

  • Child arrangements (residence, contact, holidays, schooling)
  • Financial settlements and property division
  • Spousal maintenance
  • Parenting plans
  • Any other family-related matters

A mediator will provide a calm, neutral space for discussion. Whilst remaining impartial, the mediator can provide information on legal frameworks and the process. Mediation can take place in person or online.
