The new services build on the firm’s established family mediation practice, led by Partner Sarah Archibald, and reflect a continued focus on supporting constructive, out-of-court resolutions across a broad range of disputes.
Specialist-led, independent mediation
The new mediation services are led by experienced practitioners Stuart Downey and Simon Burdett-Dixon, combining subject-matter expertise with accredited mediation training.
Stuart Downey leads mediation in contentious probate, Will and trust disputes. Unusually, Stuart has practised both as a non-contentious private client lawyer and as a contentious trusts and estates specialist, giving him a dual perspective that can assist in identifying practical and often creative routes to resolution.
A parallel mediation offering in property disputes, led by Simon Burdett-Dixon, will support the resolution of both commercial and residential property disputes. As a practising disputes lawyer in this area, Simon brings a detailed understanding of both the legal frameworks and the commercial and personal realities that often sit behind property conflicts.
Supporting fellow professionals
The services will particularly support other lawyers and professional advisers seeking an effective and independent route to resolving disputes for their clients.
To preserve that independence, TWM does not act for any party in another capacity on matters where it is appointed as mediator. This provides clarity for referrers and reinforces the neutrality that is central to the mediation process.
Building on an established platform
The expansion builds on TWM’s existing family mediation practice where Partner Sarah Archibald supports clients in resolving sensitive issues, including arrangements for children and financial matters.
Across all areas, the firm’s mediation offering is underpinned by:
- Independence and impartiality
- Strong subject-matter expertise
- A practical, solution-focused approach to dispute resolution.
Jamie Berry, Managing Partner at TWM Solicitors said:
“We are seeing growing demand from fellow professionals for mediators who combine technical expertise with a practical approach to resolving disputes.
“By expanding our mediation offering across private client, property and family matters, we can support that demand while maintaining the independence and clarity that referrers and their clients expect.”
