The Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023: Transforming Companies House – an update

Share on:

Further to our recent article on the introduction of the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023 (the “Act”), a number of the provisions came in with effect from 4 March 2024. The provisions bring about fundamental changes to the purpose and role of Companies House and include extensions to the power of Registrars, tighter restrictions on company names, enhanced controls on registered office addresses and the introduction of new requirements.

Companies House has also published changes to their current fees which are due to be implemented on 1 May 2024.

Below is a table of what we deem to be the most relevant fee increases to our clients. While different fees apply to online filings and hardcopy (‘paper’) filings, we have focused this article on fees for online filing as they represent the primary method of transaction for the majority of our clients.

However, fees for paper filings have been included where there are no suitable alternatives.
